This is just a list of the common things I do after a fresh install of Ubuntu (as of Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron Beta).

1. Disable system beep from Systems > Preferences > Sound

2. Remove the following programs I dont use: ekiga, tomboy, f-spot

3. Install alternative programs for above: picasa, leafpad, audacious, thunderbird, swiftfox

4. Tweak terminal to transparent green background and white font

5. Add pidgin to sessions

6. Mount remote NFS server on autostart

7. Tweak open office to make it open faster

8. Download RedHat’s Liberation Fonts (they are sexy) and use them system
